Description
For millions of people throughout the Commonwealth, faith constitutes a fundamental part of their identity and lives. As an association that wants to engage with people, the Commonwealth simply cannot ignore something that matters to so many.
Since 2005, the Commonwealth Foundation has increased its engagement with faith-based organisations in order to promote greater respect and understanding and in doing so to create the best conditions for development, for people’s participation and for the tackling of common problems.
This report lays out the first fruits of this initiative and provides a basis for further consultation and programme development. It offers background on and discusses some principles which might be applied in the business of faith engagement in an international, inter-cultural environment. It also looks to the future, suggesting recommendations for where this work might go next in this increasingly important area.
